Artspace, the nation’s leader in artist-led community transformation, launches a two-day immersive idea lab that will take place October 14-15, 2016, in the Twin Cities. The idea lab, an event format designed for idea generation and interaction, is an expansion of what Artspace has done annually -- recognize artists as leaders during an evening celebration.

Artspace will host an open house at the Artspace Uptown Artist Lofts at 717 Franklin Street in
Michigan City from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 4. The event is free and open to the
public. Artspace staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide tours of the live/work
units, the gallery space and other building amenities. Additionally, there will be a morning
information session from 8:00 to 9:00 am, also on Feb 4th.

Artspace Projects is pleased to announce that it has purchased the former Bell School Campus and its buildings in Tremé from the Orleans Parish School Board. This milestone allows Artspace to begin the physical rehabilitation of the buildings, which will include 79 affordable live work units for artists and their families. A groundbreaking celebration for the Bell Artspace Campus is scheduled for Thursday, April 14, with construction on the first units to be completed in early 2017.

The colorful 'herd of buffalo' roaming down the roads of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota this fall brought both tears and cheers to a group of artists, supporters and federal partners gathered together for a cultural assets and creative economy learning tour. Rolling Rez Arts will be seen all across the reservation as it delivers art, business, retail and banking services that up until this point have been inaccessible to many of the artists and culture bearers who live and work on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Artspace announced the schedule for the October 1 grand opening celebration of the new Artspace Mt. Baker Lofts at 2915 Rainier Avenue South in Seattle, Wash. The event marks the official opening of the project, a new four-story building that features 57 units of affordable live/work space for artists and their families on three upper floors, plus non-residential space on the ground floor for arts-friendly businesses and nonprofit organizations.

As residents open the doors to their new apartments in the heart of the Rainier Valley, there’s one less key on their keychain. That’s because this new transit-oriented development doesn’t have a parking garage. Instead, it features Zipcar, whose car sharing service enables residents to reserve and drive a car by the hour, paying for it only when they use it.

The Artspace development team and its local partners are pleased to announce that the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) voted on Thursday to approve low-income housing tax credits for an affordable live/work housing facility for artists to be located in downtown El Paso. This project will be the third Artspace development in Texas, following the National Hotel Artist Lofts in Galveston (2001) and Elder Street Artist Lofts in Houston (2005).
