Artspace Buffalo Lofts
About this Property
The City of Buffalo engaged Artspace to develop a new live/work project in the historic Buffalo Electric Vehicle Building on Main Street in Buffalo's Midtown neighborhood. The project consists of 60 live/work units: 36 in the original building plus 24 in new construction behind it. In addition, 9,000 square feet of commercial space on the street level provide offices and other space for arts organizations and arts-related businesses. The area between the buildings has been preserved as a common space.
I consider myself a Buffalo-convert. I moved to the area when I was about 10 years old from Ithaca,NY and never felt like this was my home. I left to go to Smith College and finally felt like I was in a place with people who understood me. I stayed away for another four years after college and never expected to return, but return I did when I decided to get my Master's Degree. And the Buffalo I found was very different than the Buffalo I left. I now live downtown in one of the first converted warehouses and it is so exciting to see more and more residential opportunities opening up for people in the Downtown neighborhood.
