Artspace Patchogue Lofts

Using the Arts to Raise a Village

20 Terry Street Patchogue, NY, 11772

Overview

The Long Island Village of Patchogue began a renaissance in the 1990s when creatives leased many of the vacant Main Street storefronts, and the theater was renovated. Artist housing was the missing piece, so in 2006 Patchogue engaged Artspace to conduct development work that led to the Artspace Patchogue Lofts, a mixed-use project in the heart of downtown. Completed in 2011, Artspace Patchogue Lofts includes 45 units of affordable live/work units, plus retail space on the street level and a home for the Patchogue Arts Council and Plaza Cinema and Media Arts Center. Civic leaders view Terry Street as a bridge between the commercial district along Main Street and the growing community of market-rate and affordable multi-family housing nearby.
