Artspace today announced the Sept. 12 application deadline and details of the expanded “Artspace Immersion: Memphis” program. The competitive process will award six to 10 arts organizations entry into the 18-month cohort, designed to build local capacity for creating and maintaining affordable space for arts, cultural, and creative pursuits in Memphis, TN.

Artspace invites the public to the Nov. 8 Grand Opening of the South Main Artspace Lofts (120 & 138 St. Paul Avenue), a $17 million arts development in the heart of the South Main district in Memphis, TN. The mixed-use arts campus pairs a restored historic warehouse with new construction, collectively housing 63 apartments for artists of all disciplines to live and work; as well as commercial space for creative businesses like ArtUp, a nonprofit that invests in creative entrepreneurs to empower disinvested communities.

By Rachel Johnson   People roamed the halls of the Franklin Arts Center Thursday evening exploring the many artist studios that the building holds in celebration of its 10th anniversary. “The building used to be a middle school that Artspace Projects Inc. converted into artists-to-live workspace and artist studio space,” said Erika Dani, Asset Manager at Artspace Projects Inc.

Artspace welcomes Amanda Cortés and Jeremy Staab to the 2018 Rafala Green Fellowship program. Both Fellows will relocate to Minneapolis in September to work at Artspace headquarters for the fellowship program’s inaugural year. The mission of the Rafala Green Program is to promote equity and inclusion among cultural communities often underrepresented in the real estate development field.
