Based in Newark, NJ with a global mindset, the mission at Akin is to build safe and sustainable spaces where black artists, innovators, and revolutionaries can commune and create pathways to equity, freedom, and community through shared experiences.
Akin was created in 2022 by a group of local artists and entrepreneurs eager to solve the problems plaguing the creative ecosystem, and has evolved to be adaptable and sustainable in meeting the needs of local artists, old and new. Prioritizing collaboration and community engagement, Akin places power in the hands of those creating, building, and growing their communities through events, workshops, consulting and placemaking.
