Minneapolis, MN (November 17, 2022) — Artspace Projects, America’s leading developer for the arts, welcomes their 2022–23 cohort for Artspace Immersion: Minneapolis, a 12-month capacity-building program that celebrates and supports arts and cultural organizations as they build impactful creative spaces. Designed for groups in the planning stages of a space-related initiative, the program brings together the people, tools, and access that advance small and large-scale projects. Funding for this cohort is made possible in partnership with The City of Minneapolis Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy.

“We’ve brought Artspace Immersion back to its home roots. So there’s added meaning that we are helping 10 extraordinary organizations who themselves have deep roots throughout the Minneapolis creative community. We are inspired by the transformational work they do and are honored to join their space-related journey.”

– Anna Growcott, Program Director of Artspace Immersion and Vice President of Artspace Consulting

Central to that journey is the Artspace Immersion curriculum that supports a learning community, emphasizes storytelling, builds partnerships, and makes connections to broader discussions of community development and social justice. The Minneapolis cohort will be the 8th focus city for the Artspace Immersion program. Each participating organization brings a clear and unique vision of how space ownership, development, or accessibility will create ripple effects in the communities they serve. A $5,000 planning stipend is awarded to each participating organization upon completion of the program.

Artspace Immersion Minneapolis is made possible by the partnership with The City of Minneapolis Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (ACCE) and a one-time Federal recovery funding from the American Rescue Plan. ACCE supports artist entrepreneurs, creative businesses and cultural nonprofits to ensure the growth and sustainability of artistic expression and creativity throughout Minneapolis. This work helps strengthen the health and well-being of every neighborhood by elevating the cultural identity of underrepresented creative workers and communities.

Previous and ongoing iterations of Artspace Immersion have been held in Washington D.C. (2022–23); Chicago, IL (2021–22); Little Rock & North Rock, AR (2020–21); Detroit, MI (2019–20 and 2015–16); Memphis, TN (2018–19); and Minneapolis & Saint Paul, MN (2018–19 & 2016–17). The Artspace Immersion Minneapolis cohort joins a network of nearly 90 arts and culture organizations from all over the country. Many champions of the program have emerged to join a national advisory board for the growing program.
