Becky Carlson St. Clair joined Artspace in September 2011 as a consultant, and joined the staff in March 2012. As Director, Property Development, she is responsible for financing applications, project predevelopment, property closings, and construction.
Prior to joining Artspace, Becky worked for two years as a cartographer at Syracuse University; and for a custom cartography company in Washington, D.C. Her maps have been published in National Geographic Traveler, Backpacker, and Middle East Insight. She spent five years at Somerset Development Company, a for-profit affordable housing company in D.C. As a project manager, she developed project-based Section 8, LIHTC, historic tax credit, and a market-rate town home project in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. Her favorite projects are historic rehabs. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and WIRED UP (Women in Real Estate Development & Urban Planning).
Becky attended Syracuse University, where she received a B.A. in Geography from the Maxwell School of Citizenship, and a degree in Spanish in 2000. Switching career paths, she returned to school to study urban planning at the University of Virginia and graduated with a Master of Urban and Environmental Planning in 2004.
Becky lives in Minneapolis with her husband, son, and dog. In her spare time, she enjoys reading novels, knitting socks, walk around “The Lakes,” and renovating her 1920s four-square home.
