Giannina Gutierrez

Giannina Gutierrez is an NYC based artist, currently residing and working out of East Harlem, NY. She is of Colombian origin, raised in Queens, New York.

Creating art since an early age, Giannina studied in various arts programs, including the Art Students League of New York, and majored in fine art at the Pratt Institute. In 2004, she started doing live art performance and competitions at various events, nightclubs and charity events. Giannina has worked on murals, and her work has been part of several group exhibits, in addition to solo shows in galleries and businesses in New York, D.C., Chicago and Miami. She is currently working on several public art projects and hosts a monthly ongoing Live Art & Music event in East Harlem. She has also worked as teaching artist in various school programs in the Bronx  and Queens.

Her love of environment and form is evident through her bold shapes and treatment of media. Years of figure study and appreciation of form shows in the organic, erotic style in which she depicts figures; primarily female and animal. Through her work, she explores the dynamics of the universal and human experience. Giannina works in a variety of materials and mediums, including: found objects, aerosol, acrylic and oils. Her work has recently been featured in several publications and showings. She is currently preparing on a new body of work and several public art projects.
