Live/Work Housing
In the Artspace model housing meets residential codes and is somewhat larger than a typical dwelling unit. For example, 600-800 sq. ft. for an efficiency, and up to 1,400 sq. ft. or larger for a 3-bedroom unit is typical. The space is designed flexibly and durably, incorporating both wide open areas and private rooms, to allow artists and creatives to arrange and adapt their living and working environment in a way that best suits a variety of creative and family needs. Design features, amenities and management policies are artist-friendly. Space is rented under an annual lease and is long-term affordable. Flexible-use, shared spaces are available to all residents in the building. Other live/work models do exist including for example: industrial or commercial space where a small percentage is dedicated as "living" space ("work/live") and ownership or cooperative models.
Private Studio or Creative Work Space
Flexible use space that can be used for creating, making, practicing, selling, exhibiting, demonstrating, teaching, etc. (e.g, for visual arts, performing arts, or other creative work space needs). This space is rented under an annual lease agreement. This space is not code compliant for residential use but may be located in a building that includes residential space.
Shared Creative Space (short-term or occasional rental)
Space that may be available through a membership (e.g. maker space or co-working space model) or rented for a fee on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or on another short-term basis. Space may be available for a single renter's exclusive use during the rental period or shared with others at the same time. Spaces sometimes include specialized equipment. Classes or training may also be incorporated into the overall space program. While Artspace does not typically develop or operate short-term/occasional rental space, it does rent affordable commercial space to those who do.
