El Barrio’s Artspace PS109: Celebrating 10 Years of Creativity in El Barrio
This year marks a major milestone: El Barrio’s Artspace PS109 is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a cornerstone of affordable housing and creative space for artists in East Harlem. Since opening its doors in 2014, PS109 has become much more than a building. It is a living, breathing hub where artists, neighbors, and cultural organizations come together to create, perform, and share their voices.
For the past decade, PS109 has provided affordable live/work housing for artists and their families, along with gallery and community spaces that strengthen the cultural fabric of El Barrio. The building has supported hundreds of creatives, anchored local partnerships, and brought vibrant artistic expression into the neighborhood every single day.
A Sold-Out Celebration
To honor this milestone, PS109 is hosting a 10 Year Anniversary Gala in New York City on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 5:00 PM (EST). The evening will feature a curated group exhibition highlighting standout works from the past decade, live performances by resident artists, a one-of-a-kind art auction, dinner, drinks, and a festive after-party.
