Chicago Torture Justice Memorials Foundation / Chicago Torture Justice Center both emerged from the movement for reparations for survivors of police torture in Chicago. CTJMF manages the creation of the final element of the 2015 reparations legislation to be implemented, the Chicago Torture Justice Memorial, and the CTJC, also an element of the reparations legislation, seeks to address the traumas of police violence and institutionalized racism through access to healing and wellness services, trauma-informed resources, and community connection.
